New FBI stats show Cape Coral one of Florida's safest cities
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - The FBI's 2011 National Crime report released Monday shows Cape Coral is one of the safest cities in Florida as well as the whole nation.
The statistics covers cities with populations greater than 150,000 residents. When it comes to violent crime Cape Coral is the safest city in Florida. The city is ranked third overall statewide when it comes to overall crime due to the higher number of property crimes in Cape Coral.
Regarding the findings Cape Coral police chief Jay Murphy said, "Again our success in this area is attributable to staff efforts and our citizens' willingness to come forward and cooperate when called upon."
