FORT MYERS, Fla.- Hurricane Sandy affecting weekend plans right in Southwest Florida. Key West Express announces it is canceling Saturday's trip to the Keys.

Mother nature has interfered with Sue Scott's plans. She booked a Saturday ride to the Florida Keys on the Key West Express in Fort Myers.

"I paid $142 dollars per person and there is 7 of us actually in our group," said Sue Scott, Fort Myers resident.

The nearly $1,000 dollar trip has been canceled because of Hurricane Sandy. Sue's friend, Lynn Soliday, is also missing out. The two were suppose to join 5 others on a boat headed for Key West just in time for Fantasy Fest this weekend. The annual event has a nearly $30 million dollar impact on the island.

"To see a once a year parade that they have that's called Fantasy Fest. I've never seen it, but heard alot about it," said Scott.

The ladies were given the option of rescheduling, but say they would rather see a refund.

"Morals and consciously they should give us a refund," said Lynn Soliday, Naples resident.

Sue and Lynn admit they signed a credit card authorization stating tickets are non-refundable if Key West Express cancels, but the two feel an exception should be made. After all, mother nature is unpredictable.

"There is always room for consideration or for an exception. There is a loophole to everything There's an exception, I believe," said Soliday.

Fox 4 took their concerns to the office manager at Key Way Express. She tells me they the ladies can reschedule a trip in within two years, free of charge. As far as getting their money back, it depends on the tickets they purchased. Fox 4 faxed them the part of seven's information and was told they would get back to us.

"We deserve a refund. We were going for Fantasy Fest and no other reason," said Soliday.
