Florida Gov. cancels events to be with his mother
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida Gov. Rick Scott is canceling events on his schedule to be with his seriously-ill mother.
Scott on Twitter this morning asked Floridians to pray for his mother, Esther Scott. He said that she is battling an infection and is intensive care. She splits her time between Florida and Kansas City, Missouri.
Esther Scott was a mainstay on the 2010 campaign trail and was featured in a television ad where she told Florida voters that her son was a good boy.
A spokeswoman for Scott says the governor is canceling events planned for both Friday and Saturday. Scott gave a speech outlining his education agenda Friday morning.
