FORT MYERS, Fla. - Plagued by problems involving the projects original contractor, the long awaited Metro Parkway Extension will open Sunday evening at about 5 p.m.

The road will carry traffic from Six Mile Cypress and Metro Parkway south to U.S. 41.

Remaining work includes landscaping the perm at Anderson Lane, completing the pond at the north end of the extension and finishing items near the overpass at the south end of the job.

The extension allows drivers to by-pass U.S. 41 and take a more direct route to the San Carlos area of Lee County.
