Nelson, Mack to meet tonight in Florida's only Senate debate
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson will face Republican challenger Rep. Connie Mack in the only debate before the Nov. 6 election.
Wednesday's debate is organized by Leadership Florida and the Florida Press Association and will be aired live across the state. It's being held at Nova Southeastern University.
The debate comes as hundreds of thousands of people have already cast their votes with absentee ballots.
The race could have implications on balance of power in the Senate. Republicans need to gain four seats to have a majority. Outside groups supporting both sides have spent millions of dollars trying to influence the Florida race.
Nelson is seeking his third term.
