FORT MYERS, Fla. - Lee County Commissioner Frank Mann issued a memo this morning saying he will not put forward a motion to fire Lee County manager Karen Hawes.

In the memo Mann said he had spoken to Hawes and believed it was in everyone's best interest to wait one more week.

Hawes has been at the center of a controversy involving the grounding Lee County's MedStar emergency helicopter service.  The fallout has forced two top county administrators to leave their positions.

Also looming is the fallout over a $5 million grant to VR Labs.  Hawes supported the grant and now the future of the company that was supposed create 214 jobs in Lee County is now in doubt.
