Lee County deputy involved in minor crash
FORT MYERS, Fla. - A crash involving a Lee County deputy resulted in three minor injuries early Sunday morning in Fort Myers.
Deputy George Engren was driving a marked patrol vehicle northbound on Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard in emergency mode when he approached Winkler Avenue.
The light was green for traffic on Winkler Avenue and Engren came to a complete stop and hit his siren before entering the intersection.
A westbound car driven by 63-year-old Nicholas Marciano of Naples entered the intersection and his Infiniti was hit by the deputies squad car in the left side putting both vehicles into a spin.
Marciano and 12-year-old Justin Marciano both suffered minor injuries. A second passenger didn't require a trip to the hospital.
Deputy Engren also suffered minor injuries.
