MIAMI (AP) - Officials say a South Florida high school student has died from bacterial meningitis.
Health officials have sent Coral Reef Senior High School students home with a letter, urging them and their parents to watch for symptoms of the disease and encouraging quick medical attention. It wasn't immediately clear how the student was infected or when the student last attended school.
Health officials say the student's death was not related to the recent national outbreak of fungal meningitis linked to contaminated pain injections.
