CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A two car accident before 8 a.m. closed a section of Andalusia Road just north of Pine Island Road for more than four hours and sent two people to the hospital... one with life threatening injuries.

The crash sent one of the cars into a canal.  Cape Coral firefighters rescued the driver of that car, 63-year-old Gilian Crosdale.

Crosdale may have been submerged in the car for as long as ten minutes.

The other driver 18-year-old Madison Schiel suffered minor injuries.

Police say Crosdale was traveling south on Andalusia when Schiel pulled out in front of her.  Crosdale served to avoid Schiel's car but clipped it and ended driving into the canal.

Cape Coral police are conducting a criminal investigation.
