NAPLES, Fla. - According to the National Weather Service, there's been at least 27 lightning strike deaths in 16 states in 2012.

Florida is the leader with at least 4 deaths. One of the doctors at ER Quick Care in Naples says most of those deaths happen at the beach or around trees.

If you feel like a lightning strike is imminent and you can't get to shelter crouch down and bend your head to your knees and feet together so if you do get struck at least it won't go to your head. Hopefully it will strike your back or not at all.” Dr. Larry Saunders said.

Other strikes in Florida have happened in Lakeland and another person was killed back in April on Lake Okeechobee while fishing.
