Phone scam warning for Charlotte County
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - Charlotte County Utilities (CCU) is warning about a phone scam.
The customer is told that their utility check payment bounced and service will be disconnected unless payment is made immediately. The scammer then asks for personal checking account information.
CCU says its telephone calls to customers for returned checks are automated. A live customer service representative would not callyou directly unless you initiated the telephone call first.
