UEP vote delayed in Cape Coral
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Tonight, Cape Coral City Council was supposed to make a decision on a multi-million dollar utilities extension project that could cost homeowners big. Things didn’t go as planned.
City council was slated to vote tonight on contracting an engineering company.
The first major step to hooking up southwest 6 and 7 residents to sewer lines- but they kicked the can and decided to postpone it.
City council is considering contracting the engineering company Tetratech at a cost of no more than $7.5 million. From there, bids would go out to contractors to then lay the sewer lines and build new roads in southwest 6 and 7.
“They’re getting water, irrigation or duer water and sewers and
they'll go right down the center of the street,” says councilmember Kevin McGrail.
City leaders will now vote on it October 22 and hold a workshop the week before. Officials are hoping to start the project next year.
