Matlacha bridge problems creates delay in construction
MATLACHA, Fla. – Work on the new Matlacha bridge may have hit a snag, leading to more delays.
A problem with a mechanism that causes the bridge to go up and down is putting work on hold.
Crews have been working on the new bridge for two years, and there's no word on how far back this latest delay could set construction workers.
Earlier today, LCEC crews started moving power poles, which means the westbound lane of Pine Island Road will be closed for the next two to three days from 9am to 3:30pm.
