Should Lee Co. privatize Medstar?
LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Should Lee County privatize Medstar?
That's what county officials are considering after a scandal grounded the life-saving service. But a former pilot says that move could end up costing taxpayers more.
We are hearing from many of you on this idea on our Viewer's Voice line. Many of you thinking management is to blame.
Jim in the Cape calling in: "I believe it should be run by private. A good example is by our own government officials saying we don't know who's at fault."
Adam calling in: "I believe the pilots and everything do a wonderful job."
But some do not want to see the service privatized.
Kevin calling in from Lehigh: "I do not believe that Medstar should be put out to a private company. I think the county could run it at zero percent cost to the taxpayer, if given the right opportunity."
Carolyn calling in: "I disagree with the fact of them trying to privatize that helicopter. Taxpayers have spent millions of dollars to have two helicopters running. It's not the pilots fault."
