NAPLES- Latitudes, a $50,000 dollar catamaran, showed up at the Naples City Dock overnight back in June. The boat has been there ever since.

"We're not even sure who brought the boat here. It showed up over night. We know it's registered to Wayne Ball" said Roger Jacobsen, City of Naples Harbor Master, back on July 18, 2012.

The boat is in gorgeous shape and its tags are up-to-date, but Wayne Ball, the man who owns the 38-foot catamaran, has not been seen in months.

"The only abandoned vessels we usually see, like I said, are the ones in terrible shape or trying to hide them from being reposed from the bank," said Jacobsen back in July.

City officials had no luck tracking down Mr. Ball and his whereabouts have been a mystery. Now 3 months later, a fax comes into our newsroom overnight. A letter purportedly from Ball claims he was drugged at a Naples bar and then people threatened him to hand over his assets including his sailboat, cash and stock bonds. He claims someone stole and extorted over 2 million dollars from him and he says he was forced to hand over his $50,000 catamaran and leave it at the city dock.

Might be a hard story to believe, right? Fox 4 contacted Mr. Ball through fax. Mr. Ball called back and left a message. Fox is still working on tracking him down.

The Naples Police Department said it does not want to comment at this time, but to check back next week.
