Facebook helps catch armed burglar in San Carlos Park
SAN CARLOS PARK, Fla. - A Lee County deputy arrested one of two men wanted in connection with an armed robbery of a house in San Carlos Park at the end of August.
There roommates returned to their home in the 17500 block of Johnstown Court to find two men, one black and one white, exiting their home carrying duffle bags.
The black male waived a handgun at the men and threatened them.
A tip to Crimestoppers led authorities to some of the stolen goods, recovered from the woods near the home.
The three victims told investigators that they believed one of the men was a former FGCU student and through his Facebook account identified the other suspect as a man named Norman Jiles.
A detective figured out that Jiles was actually Arlando Boykin and using Boykin's cell phone records determined that he was in the area of the robbery at the time of the crime.
The 32-year-old Boykin is from Naples. He was arrested Wednesday and charged with Armed Burglary, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Grand Theft.
