North Fort Myers teen arrested for shooting man and his dog

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - A North Fort Myers 14-year-old was arrested for using a pellet gun to shoot a man and his dog as they were out for a walk.

The incident happened Tuesday night in the vicinity of Breeze Drive and Case Lane..

The victim told a Lee County deputy that he was shot twice by the teenager.  One pellet hit his left rib area, the other grazed his head.  His dog was shot in the left rear leg.

The victim said the shooter and another boy had been harassing him whenever he would take his dog out for a walk. 

The deputy that arrested the 14-year-old said his father told him quote, "Getting arrested is the best thing for him because he needs help."

The boy is charged with battery.
