ROTUNDA WEST, Fla. - Charlotte County detectives arrested an 18-year-old man Sunday for burglarizing a West Rotunda home.

Detectives say Anthony Michael Loy of Englewood stole a friend's garage door opener to gain access to the home.  He's charged with Burglary, Grand Theft of Prescription Medications, and Violation of Probation.

The burglary stemmed from a weekend cookout.  Deputies contacted the owner who said he was attending a cookout at the Loy residence in Englewood in Sarasota County. He said he gave Loy the keys to move his truck to make room for more vehicles to park. The owner said his garage door opener was in his truck. When the owner returned home he discovered his bedroom door was kicked in and his Oxycodone pills were stolen from his medication bottle along and two packs of cigarettes.

Detectives were called and made contact with Loy who voluntarily came into the District Office in Englewood for questioning. Probable cause was developed and Loy was arrested early Sunday morning and transported to the Charlotte County Jail where he remains on no bond due to violating his probation for a Feb. 6 Burglary and Grand Theft case.
