FORT MYERS, Fla. - Charlie Green will be leaving his Lee County Clerk of Courts post just after the new year.

Green says he is doing so with some very heartfelt feelings. He calls his time in office very rewarding and is proud of the many thing he calls accomplishments he has made as a county employee.

Green will be succeeded by Linda Dogget who beat out Brian Bigelow for the Clerk of Courts post in November.

Green says he actually didn't plan on spending almost 30 years in office.

“I only came for a term or 2.  I really liked it.  I like the people I work with.  I still have deep roots in Lee County.  I want to see Lee County surpass all other counties in Florida.” Green said.

Green's last day will be January 7.
