Man sentenced in Lehigh Acres arson
LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - Elbert Luis Mesa Diaz was sentenced to 26 months in prison and six years probation for setting a fire that destroyed a home in Lehigh Acres in May 2010.
The 40-year-old Diaz set fire to the home then submitted an insurance claim for more than $200,000.
Lehigh Acres firefighters responded to a blaze on Graystone Avenue and the State Fire Marshall determined the cause was arson.
Diaz was arrested nearly a year later and charged with arson, burning to defraud and filing a fradulent insurance claim.
