Fatal Sanibel Causeway accident driver has license suspended
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Theresa Shirley, the woman behind the wheel of a truck that hit and killed a bicyclist, received the maximum penalty, after pleading no contest to failing to maintain her lane.
Shirley will lose her driver's license for six months. Shirley was driving on the causeway in May 2011 when she went out of her lane hitting cyclist Tracey Kleinpell, sending her into the water. Kleinpell died at the scene.
Along with losing her license for six months Shirley will have to pay a $1,000 fine, perform 120 hours of community service and attend a day long trauma class.
