West Nile cases continue to rise
WFTX - The Centers for Disease Control is reporting a 25% jump in cases of West Nile Virus from just last week, soaring from 1,590 cases last week to nearly 2,000 as of Tuesday. The CDC also says the number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease has spiked 32% since last week...rising from 66 to 87. In Florida, there have been 19 cases reported, but none here in Southwest Florida yet. The West Nile Virus has been detected in 48 states, with human cases reported in 44.
