Man robs Fort Myers Bank of America
FORT MYERS - A man robbed a Fort Myers bank in broad daylight and authorities need your help finding him.
The robbery has led to a citywide search and detectives are hoping surveillance pictures can help find their suspect.
Photos released from the Bank of America on Whiskey Creek Drive, across from Edison State College, show a man in a baseball cap about 6-foot-5, 215 pounds in his mid 20s to early 30s.
The man walked into the bank around 11:15 a.m. with a note demanding cash and got away with an undisclosed amount of money, according to deputies, who say the man did not display a weapon.
Two customers were inside the bank at the time. Nobody was injured. Deputies arrived on scene within 15 minutes and used both K9 and air units to look for the suspect.
"We've gone without a bank robbery here in the Lee County area for quite some time," said Lt. Shawn Ramsey with the Lee County Sheriff's Office. "But we're confident that with this particular case we can bring it to some sort of positive conclusion."
Detectives say the man fled in an older model two-door silver or gold colored car, possibly a Toyota or Honda.
