Tropical Storms Leslie & Michael Over Atlantic Waters
We continue to watch the slow progress of two tropical systems in the Atlantic, the first is Tropical Storm Leslie located 490 miles south-southeast of Bermuda. With maximum sustained winds of 65 mph, Leslie is moving to the north-northwest at 2 mph. On the forecast track, Tropical Storm Leslie will continue slowly to the north-northwest for the next couple of days.
The second system is Tropical Storm Michael located 1190 miles west-southwest of the Azores with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph is moving to the north at 5 mph. On the forecast track, Michael will continue to the north and northeast for the next couple days.
There is a third area of interest over the Florida Panhandle; an area of low pressure is expected to drop south into the Gulf of Mexico today. This system has a low chance (10%) of becoming a tropical cyclone over the next 48 hours as it meanders over the Gulf.
