Disney on Ice rehearses in Estero
ESTERO, Fla. - For Budapest native Dora Vikar, ice skating is in her DNA.
"Everyday I come to work and i think, i love doing this," said Vikar, 33, who began skating with Disney On Ice 12 years ago. "My mom was a coach and my grandma. I basically grew up at the rink."
Landing here at Germain Arena in Estero for 'Disney On Ice Presents World of Fantasy.'
"The thing about the Disney experience is it's for all ages," said Philip Hoobing, the company manager. "We see grandparents come in with their grandchildren and just something that's enjoyable and entertainment for the family."
Forty skaters from Finland to Florida, are rehearsing for a 36-city nationwide tour. Their first show is next week in Fort Lauderdale.
"Bring children in and let Disney come to them and have an enjoyable experience," added Hoobing.
The experience is about four Disney stories: The Little Mermaid, Cars, Tinkerbell and Toy Story 3, during which Vikar will play Jesse.
"[She] shows her hat a lot and she does the whole thing, kicks up and does a high kick," demonstrated Vikar.
For now, the props are taking time off.
"We have everything here but they're hidden," said Hoobing.
Until the Disney dancers return full-circle for their southwest Florida show.
"When we come back in March, everything will be perfect," concluded Hoobing.
Disney's World of Fantasy will be at Germaine Arena March 8-10, 2013.
