NAPLES- Isaac is bringing heartache to Haiti. The storm rolled through leaving more than a dozen dead.

Haitians rush to safety while others struggle to get through waist-high water.

"Haiti has been deforested and by that I mean the mountains and hills really don't have any trees so when it rains the water comes rushing down the mountains and floods the low lands," said Elizabeth Davison, Executive Director for Hope for Haiti.

Even in the middle of devastation comes a glimmer of hope seen in the eyes of the youngest of victims.

Hope for Haiti, a Naples-based charitable organization is giving those in Les Cayes the strength to power through Isaac's aftermath.

"Haitian people are very resilient. They've been through earthquakes and storms like this before and they bounce back, but with as much help as we can give them," said Davison.

The organization has 5 full-time staff members living in Haiti.

"Our staff signed on for two and a half years so they are really like missionaries."

The group has handed out nearly 1,000 survival buckets.

"There are enough supplies to keep a family of 4 going for several days. There is food, water purification tablets, a blanket, toothbrush, toothpaste."

Hope for Haiti staff has taken pictures and those pictures show just how much Haiti needs.

Now volunteers hope others find it in their hearts to help Haiti.

"A good friend came in yesterday with a $200 dollar check. She's helping 2 families in Haiti get through this time."
