Tropical Storm Kirk forms far out in Atlantic

MIAMI (AP) - Tropical Storm Kirk has formed far out in the Atlantic Ocean but currently poses no threat to land.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said the storm late Tuesday night generated winds of 45 mph with higher gusts and that some strengthening is forecast during the next two days.

Kirk was centered about 1,230 miles northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands and was moving west about 12 mph.
