Flower pot toss lands Port Charlotte man in jail
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Charlotte County deputies arrested a homeless Port Charlotte man for throwing a ceramic flower pot through a glass window.
Glass hit a man sitting in a wheelchair inside his home causing small cuts on his knee.
56-year-old Stephan Leslie Flinders is charged with Throwing a Deadly Missile into a Dwelling and Battery.
CCSO deputies responded to the call from a neighborhood witness Saturday at 11:32 a.m. who said she saw a man in the carport at 2226 Hayworth Road who was yelling at someone in the house, broke the window with a flower pot, then fled on a bicycle.
Deputies talked to the victim, 41, who said Flinders came to his home and he opened his window to talk to him. Flinders was demanding he give the victim’s girlfriend’s disability checks to him.
The victim said he did not have any such checks and closed the window. Flinders then used his fist to smash one of the window panes. He then picked up the flower pot and threw it through the window. The pot missed the victim but flying pieces of glass caused small lacerations to his left knee. He refused medical treatment.
Flinders is in the Charlotte County Jail on $12,000 bond.
