Collier County begins voluntary evacuation, opens shelters on Sunday
COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Collier County emergency management officials are recommending a voluntary precautionary evacuation for some areas of the county.
- Areas West and South of U.S. 41 and the adjacent low lying areas.
- Mobile and modular home residents in the unicoporated areas of Collier County.
General population shelters will open at 10 a.m. Sunday, August 26th at the following schools.
Immokalee High School, 701 Immokalee Dr., Immokalee
Immokalee Middle School, 401 9th St., Immokalee
Golden Gate High School, 2925 Titan Way, Naples
Cypress Palm Middle School, 4255 18th Ave NE, Naples
North Collier Regional Park (with limited pet friendly services), 15000 Livingston Rd., Naples
A shelter for people with special needs will open at Palmetto Ridge High School, 1655 Victory Lane, for those individuals and families who need such services. A family member or caregiver is asked to accompany the special needs person at the shelter. Individuals with special needs who are not already pre-registered, and those dependent upon electrical power, should call 252-8444.
The Collier Emergency Information Hotline has been activated to answer storm-related questions. The Hotline number is 252-8444, or 311 from anywhere within Collier County. General questions related to law enforcement can be directed to 252-9300.
