Suspected jewelry thief nabbed in Charlotte County
PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Punta Gorda man on 15 felony charges stemming from a July jewelry theft.
Justin Andrew Derose turned himself into the Charlotte County Jail on Monday.
The victim called CCSO to report the theft of more than $1000 of jewelry and gold from her Punta Gorda home. She advised investigators Derose was her daughter’s boyfriend and he had stayed in the home for about three weeks before she discovered the items missing. A Punta Gorda Police detective advised he was also working on a case involving Derose on several pawned transactions.
Deputies went to Gulf Coast Medals in Port Charlotte and located some items Derose had sold. More items were recovered at Gold Pros.
