Large wad of cash, fake pot, "huffing" Port Charlotte man arrested
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Charlotte County deputies found a man carrying a large sum of cash passed out in his car at the Port Charlotte WalMart Friday night. Deputies suspected 52-year-old John David Crider had been"huffing" from a spray can.
When deputies Crider's silver Ford station wagon parked in a handicapped parking space, they found him asleep inside with the motor running holding an Ultra Duster spray can.
When deputies reached in and unlocked the vehicle they say Crider woke up and instantly put the spray can to his mouth pulling the trigger. Deputies grabbed the can and Crider attempted to drive away but the deputy stopped him.
Deputies found Crider carrying $13,813 in his pockets and Scooby Snax Potpourri, also known as fake marijuana. Crider was taken to the Charlotte County Jail. He remains in jail on $10,000 bond for the two charges, and no bond for two Violation of Probation charges.
