Large prescribed burn begins in Collier County
COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - The Caloosahatchee Forestry Center is conducting a prescribed burn today.
The burn in the Picayune Strand State Forest will take place in the vicinity of Everglades and Stewart Boulevards and involved up to 3,500 acres.
Prescribed burns reduce the density of vegetation and the risks associated with catastrophic wildfire. Regular prescribed burns help ensure safety, promote healthy forests and enhance wildlife habitat.
