Deputies search for suspect in Fort Myers shooting
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Gunfire erupts in a neighborhood. Tonight deputies are looking for who pulled the trigger.
Lee County Sheriff Deputies are looking for two Hispanic males who fled the neighborhood in a silver Toyota Camry after shots were fired.
The search has been on since late Thursday afternoon in the Pine Manor area.
Deputies marking and picking up shell casings on 4th avenue in Pine Manor after reports of several shots fired.
Deputies blanketed the Pine Manor neighborhood looking for two Hispanic males, a shooter and a possible victim. They found neither.
K-9 units were called in and deputies went door to door looking for information. The sheriff's office checked area hospitals but no one was admitted this afternoon for a gunshot wound.
One resident wouldn't give us her name for fear of retribution.
"I just think it needs to stop. There is so much going on, it's sad to say,” she says.
This area has seen its fair share of crime, including murders, robberies and assaults. Residents say they are tired of it.
A mother of two tells us she has no choice but to keep her children inside. "They stay inside where it's safe. I'd rather they be inside than outside and just be out of danger."
