Kiker defeats Ray Judah in Lee County Commission District 3 race
FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. - Larry Kiker supporters turned out in force on the rooftop of the Lani Kai. He's been the mayor of Fort Myers Beach for five years. Tonight, he beat long-standing incumbent Ray Judah for the District 3 seat. Judah served the commission for 24 years. Kiker tells Fox 4 his goals are to balance the county budget and implement improved policies. Continuing to attract tourism takes top billing and preserving county reserves.
"I'm not surprised," said Kiker. "When we first announced the candidacy we had over 150 people come to that too so people on the beach and small businesses have been so supportive all the way through this campaign. So, to see them here makes me feel even better about what we accomplished tonight."
Kiker faces no party affiliation candidate Charlie Whitehead in November. And Ray Judah couldn't be reached for comment.
