GAINESVILLE, FLA -  A burmese python found in the Florida Everglades measures 17 feet and 7 inches, and weighs almost 165 pounds!

It also produced a record-breaking 87 eggs.

Scientists at the University of Florida say it's the largest python ever found in the state.

It was brought to the Florida Museum from Everglades National Park as part of a long-term project with the U.S. Department of the Interior to research methods for managing the state's invasive Burmese Python problem.

Scientists say the snakes are not native to Florida and pose a threat to native wildlife.
