Car crash in Fort Myers sends 6 people to the hospital
FORT MYERS, Fla. - A four-vehicle crash sends six people to the hospital this afternoon In Fort Myers.
The crash happened when the driver of a maroon sedan ran the red light at the intersection of College Parkway and Winkler Road smashing into three vehicles that were stopped at the light.
The roof of the maroon sedan had to be cut off to remove the female driver from the car. Everyone involved in the crash is said to have minor injuries. FHP says witnesses saw the car run the red light helping determine the cause of this accident.
"There were witnesses on the corner that saw everything first hand. They were probably 35 to 45 feet away and saw the crash first hand. They were excellent witnesses for us.” Sgt. Dwayne Cooper of the FHP said.
Eastbound lanes of college parkway were shut down for about an hour while tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the street.
