NAPLES, Fla. - A sharp-eyed Collier County deputy noticed something odd early this morning when he spotted a man carrying campaign signs near Airport-Pulling and Pine Ridge Roads.

The deputy realized the man was removing "Paige Kreegel for Congress" signs.

The deputy followed 67-year-old William Trapani after he got into his car to a nearby Mobile Gas Station where he approached the man and asked him about the purloined campaign signs.

The deputy noticed on the bumper of Trapani's car was a "Byron Donalds for Congress" bumper sticker.  At that point the deputy asked Trapani about the campaign signs sitting inside his car and he responded with, "You got me."

Trapani has been charged with petty theft.

Donalds responded to Trapani's arrest with a statement stating his campaign doesn't condone the actions.
