FORT MYERS, Fla. - A massive check fraud scheme that seems to get bigger by the week.

30 people are now facing charges, accused of trying to steal from the Lee County School District.

It's a joint effort between the Lee County Sheriff's Office to take down people suspected of trying to steal your tax dollars.

30 arrests now made in this case you're seeing some of the latest people to be charged and some that the sheriff's office is still looking for.

Investigators say they tried to cash fake checks that looked like they were from the school district. The district's banks alerted authorities because the checks had been written to individuals that were not employed by the district.

Detectives were able to identify suspects from surveillance video and identification used when cashing the checks. Both agencies are still looking for eight suspects.
