Board member praises Burke's decision to "soundproof" office
Armstrong says he wants office soundrpoofed as well
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Lee County School Board Don Armstrong praised Superintendent Dr. Joseph Burke's decision to soundproof his office.
As Fox 4 discovered, Burke and chief operating office Alberto Rodriguez paid $1000 to soundproof their offices.
Armstrong says he wants the same thing done to his office.
"I don't have a problem with it," said Armstrong. "As a matter of fact, I'd like it done to my office because there's a lot of things that we discuss that's privileged. And people shouldn't be listening and it's very easy. Those walls are paper thin."
Armstrong says Burke often deals with sensitive personnel and financial information which he doesn't want to see compromised.
School board candidate Bob Chilmonik also praised the decision even as the union questioned the timing and the cost.
"Essentially this gentlemen is surrounded by folks that may not be reliable to him or loyal to him," said Chilmonik. "So as far as the investment I think he's doing the right thing at this point."
