Hearing loss can effect your job
WFTX - The national unemployment rate is hovering around 8.6%, continuing worries that the economic recovery is stalling.
Shockingly, untreated hearing loss is costing Americans an estimated $176 billion a year due to underemployment.
A study published by the Better Hearing Institute revealed that people with severe hearing loss had a15.6% unemployment rate, which is double that of the normal-hearing population (7.8%), and nearly double that of their peers (8.3%) who use hearing aids.
If you suspect you’ve got hearing loss, and you leave it untreated, it can hurt your ability to perform well in job interviews, client meetings, and conversations with supervisors.
Hearing loss especially affects those in the Baby Boomer generation, who are staying in their jobs longer these days because they can't afford to retire.
