LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Tonight's town hall meeting lasted two and a half hours. We heard different opinions on the controversial stand your ground law. We heard from officials and also from the general public.
The panel consisted of the state attorney, public defender, a state representative, and civil rights leaders.
The officials tonight explained the law, and how it effects people. But civil rights leaders were more outspoken and were generally against the current Stand Your Ground law.
They say it either needs to be repealed or revised. Everyone agreed tonight's discussion served the purpose of educating the public.
Reprsentative Caldwell says he will discuss the stand your ground law with fellow lawmakers over the next few months but can't take any action until the legislation session starts next March.
