FORT MYERS - It's been almost a month since the Lee County School District wrapped up its community survey. The questionnaire was designed to gauge the public's opinions on a number of issues, including school choice versus neighborhood schools.

The superintendent says 4,000 people filled out the survey, calling the response overwhelming.

But superintendent Dr. Joseph Burke says there are no early results yet because the data is still being compiled.

“When you have open ended questions where people can just write and say what they feel they want to say and you have to put that together for more than 4000 responses in a way that makes sense, it's a daunting task.” Dr. Burke said.

The company that did the survey could release its findings as soon as May first.
