Mysterious fight over top Lee Schools administrator
FORT MYERS - More tonight on the mysterious fight over a top Lee County schools administrator.
Board member Jane Kuckel had asked whether an administrator is getting special treatment from the new superintendent.
The district confirms that administrator is being investigated but won't say why.
The board has been divided over allegations raised by board member Jane Kuckel that superintendent Joseph Burke misappropriated money and gave extra sick time to that district employee.
Kuckel has called for an investigation into Burke but that was shot down resulting in heated arguments and name calling. Last Friday, Burke released a detailed letter responding to the allegations and denied doing anything wrong.
Asked for comment at Tuesday's board meeting, Kuckel and Burke both declined.
Kuckel did however release a statement to Fox 4 saying:
"The majority of the board at the last meeting through their vote indicated that they did not have concerns with the issues that I raised. It is over," Kuckel wrote. "Continuing it on only serves to be divisive and drive a bigger wedge among board members."
