Fired Edison VP Steve Atkins sues college
Atkins sues board of trustees, Dr. Walker for wrongful termination
FORT MYERS - Fired Edison Vice President of Academic Affairs Steve Atkins filed a lawsuit against the college Friday.
Atkins was fired last October after speaking out about racial discrimination at the college.
On Friday Atkin's lawyer formally filed suit against the college's board of trustees and former president Dr. Ken Walker for wrongful termination, Atkins confirmed to Fox 4.
Atkins feels the college violated his First Amendment rights.
The case will be decided in federal court.
Another fired VP Bob Beeson is expected to file a similar lawsuit next week.
The college declined to comment.
"We do not comment on pending litigation," said college spokesperson Teresa Morgenstern.
