Sheriff warns about possible scams
FORT MYERS - The Lee County Sheriff's Office is warning you about a series of scams that are becoming more popular in southwest Florida.
One to watch out for: door to door magazine solicitations. People pretend to be selling something for an organization, but are really pocketing the money.
Another scam to look out for: Anything involving home or vacation rentals on the internet.
Also, be aware of phishing text messages or voice mails.
Remember if you ever have suspicions about a possible scam, call the Sheriff's Office Fraud Line at 239-477-1242.
