Lee County Sheriff's Deputy Tracie Gaydash is out on bond after her arrest for DUI last Thursday.

"I'm embarrassed but we did the right thing, and we put her in jail where she belonged." Sheriff Mike Scott said.

Now that she's out, Sheriff Scott promises to fire her because he has a zero-tolerance policy.

An overwhelming number of you agree and applaud the sheriff, including Kevin.  “The deputy should be fired. Sheriff Scott did the right thing.”

Many of you think law enforcement officers should be held to a higher standard, like Ann in North Fort Myers.

“Just the fact that they are arrested, should be grounds that they lose their job.” Ann in North Fort Myers said.

Cindy agrees, writing on our Facebook page:
"She should be fired.  When you choose law enforcement as a career, you are held to a higher standard. No excuses. Good job, Mike Scott."

Many of you voicing your concern about Gaydash's combative attitude during the stop - -as stated in the arrest report.

Nicolas, posting on our Facebook page - "Yes, she thinks she is above the law."

Ron writing - "As a law enforcement officer, she has the duty to set an example. She failed. I agree with her dismissal. And I'm far from being a fan of Mike Scott.

Only one of your 33 responses was seemingly sensitive to the deputy’s situation.  David brooks simply posting on our Facebook page:  “People make mistakes.”
