FORT MYERS - The employees of the Mainstay Suites in Fort Myers are scrounging up money to try and get by until they get paid and as of right now there's no telling when that will happen.

"I love the guests. It's something new every day," says John White, and that's what's kept him working it the hotel on College Parkway for the last three-and-a-half years.

But he and the other 10 employess have been waiting a month to get paid -- two pay periods.
For john, that adds up to about $1,600.

"Currently my account is $94 negative. Someone else got an eviction notice this month, someone else got an eviction notice last month, so we're all hurting a little bit, " he explains.

So we called the hotel's corporate headquarters in St. Louis for John and the other employees.
Neither CEO Michael Roberts nor the president Steve Roberts were in, and their secretary said she couldn't give out their numbers.

Then we called the accounting manager 10 times throughout the day, and nothing.

So then we started calling other hotel properties within the company, and employees at at least two other hotels haven't gotten paid either.

"Pay us, and if it's late just give us an estimate of when it's going to be. It's the waiting game that's hard," pleads John.

"The landlord's calling, asking when's the rent coming, and you have to say i don't know."

John has talked to his general manager, but said he's not getting paid either. He did go out on a limb talking to us, afraid of getting fired.

That's why we're going to be extra-vigilent in following up  on this one.
