It’s been a very wet start to the week, with rainfall totals for most of Lee and Collier County being in the 4-5 inch range in the last 24 hours, with Sanibel picking up over 5 inches. Rain totals in Charlotte county have been lower, but Doppler radar estimates that over 2 inches of rain has fallen south of the Peace River.
While Tuesday was a gloomy rainy day in Southwest Florida, here is some news that may help to elevate your mood a bit.
Not only is a cold front going to move through on Wednesday, sweeping the wet weather away by the afternoon, but the coolest air of the season will move in on Thursday, with Friday and Saturday mornings expected to be in the 50s. Also, this change in the weather likely signals the “unofficial” end of our Tropical season, as the Gulf of Mexico is now down to a rain cooled 79 degrees, and tropical development that would affect Florida from this point forward is unlikely.
