FOX 4 gets results for family with low-power lines
FPL says the problem will be fixed
Power line problems in Charlotte County!
One Florida, Power and Light customer wants to know why it's taken FOX 4 TroubleShooter Colleen Hogan stepping in to get his problem fixed.
Normally we see power lines way up high, right?
Well, two Port Charlotte families are dealing with some low lines after FPL workers came out to do some work and they've been trying to get the problem fixed, since the beginning of August.
Tom Gravagna works in code enforcement so he knows a problem when he sees one.
"They're getting lower and lower, just about each day," he said, talking about his low power lines.
"It's (lines) on my home, it's laying on my gutters and one of the cables is literally about 5 feet off the ground," he said.
The sagging started about a month ago, when his neighbor had FPL come out to do some work on their shared power pole and since then, Tom says his wires have been sagging closer and closer to the ground.
"I'm afraid this could burn my house down," he said.
An FPL worker did come out initially to check it out.
"That gentleman said there was a problem with the pole and he was afraid to climb the pole," he said.
Since then, the neighbors haven't had much luck getting anyone else to come back out and fix it. So FOX 4 put in a call with FPL Thursday morning. Tom says he was contacted by a worker at FPL sometime after that.
"As you were pulling up, FPL was on the phone saying, I'm sorry we haven't contacted you in over a month," he said. "And I told them , that's okay, I called FOX News and they're on their way."
Late Thursday afternoon, I heard back from Tom. He told me an FPL worker went to his house, checked out the wires, and told him it will be repaired and the pole, replaced.
The power pole is being replaced despite FPL officials saying there is nothing hazardous about it's condition.
