(Cape Coral) -- The long awaited homecoming for a Southwest Florida soldier is almost here.

On Saturday, July 9th, Private First Class, Corey Kent is returning to Cape Coral.

Kent lost his legs and part of his hand while serving in Afghanistan. He’s coming home for the first time since the tragic accident.
Corey will land at Southwest Florida International Airport at 10:30a.m.  From the airport he and his family will head to Leapin’ Lizards in Cape Coral where the public can come out and meet Corey.
On Tuesday, local charity, US Forces Fund is holding a ground breaking at Corey’s Cape Coral home. The charity and builder Todd Gates are adding a handicap accessible addition for the wounded hero.
Kent is expected to stay in SWFL for about a month before returning back to Walter Reed Medical Center for more rehabilitation.
